چکیده

High-resolution vacuum ultraviolet carbon dioxide photoabsorption cross sections are required for modeling airglow emissions from the Martian and Venusian atmospheres and for photochemical models of those atmospheres. We report cross section measurements on CO2 at 295 and 195K between 106.1 and 118.7 nm at a spectral resolution of 0.005 nm. Significant deviations from the results of previous, lower-resolution measurements are apparent, particularly in regions of sharp spectral structure. Temperature dependence in the photoabsorption cross sections is evident throughout the region, being especially pronounced at wavelengths greater than 113 nm. r 2006 Elsevier Ltd. High - resolution photoabsorption cross section measurements of SO 2 , 2 : 220 to 325 nm at 295

[1] High-resolution, ultraviolet SO2 photoabsorption cross section data are required for modeling density and temperature profiles of SO2 in solar system atmospheres. We report measurements of such cross sections on SO2 at 295 K for the ~ B B1 ~ X A1 and ~ CB2 ~ X A1 bands over the wavelength range 220 to 325 nm. Resolving powers of up to 550,000 were employed in order to study the congested sp...

Photoabsorption Spectroscopy in the Vacuum Ultraviolet: Measurements and Modeling of CO and CO2

High-resolution vacuum ultraviolet photoabsorption cross sections of CO2are required for modeling airglow emissions from the Martian and Venusian atmospheres and for photochemical models of those and Earth’s atmospheres. We report cross section measurements between 91000 and 115000 cm−1 (87–108 nm) at spectral resolutions of 1.15 cm−1 (91000 to 102000 cm−1) and 0.58 cm−1 (102000 to 115000 cm−1)...

Isotopic Fractionation of Nitrogen in Ammonia in the Troposphere of Jupiter

Laboratory measurements of the photoabsorption cross section of NH3 at wavelengths between 140 and 220 nm 15 are presented for the first time. Incorporating the measured photoabsorption cross sections of NH3 and NH3 into a 15 14 one-dimensional photochemical diffusive model, we find that at 400 mbar, the photolytic efficiency of NH3 is about 15 38% greater than that of NH3. In addition, it is k...

UV absorption of CO2 for temperature diagnostics of hydrocarbon combustion applications

At room temperature, CO2 is transparent in the ultraviolet (UV) at wavelengths longer than 205 nm; however, at temperatures above 1000 K the CO2 absorption cross-section becomes significant in the region between 200 and 320 nm. Because CO2 is a major product of hydrocarbon combustion and because both the magnitude of the absorption cross-section and the shape of the UV absorption spectrum vary ...

VUV and mid-UV photoabsorption cross sections of thin films of guanine and uracil: application on their photochemistry in the solar system.

We present a photostability study of two nucleobases, guanine and uracil. For the first time, the photoabsorption cross-section spectra of these molecules in the solid phase were measured in the VUV and mid-UV domain (115≤λ≤300 nm). They show a quite similar absorption level throughout this wavelength range, highlighting the importance of considering the whole VUV and UV domain during photolysi...
